I like Sarah Palin... and am of the mindset that if somebody like Obama can be President, then I have no problem whatsoever with Ms. Palin as the nation's leader... and what follows makes me like her all the more:
"Do you question his [Obama's] faith and citizenship?" Palin was asked today during an onstage interview hosted by the Long Island Association. Her answer was brief and to the point.
"I don't, and those are distractions," she said to some applause. "What we're concerned about is the economy. And we're concerned about the policies coming out of his administration and what he believes in terms of big government or private sector. So, no, the faith, the birth certificate, others can engage in that kind of conversation. It's distracting. It gets annoying and let's just stick with what really matters."
That's, dare I say, Presidential. And her focus is right on.
Hats off to the woman.

I saw today at Drudge that the Supreme court is going to have a second conference on the subject of did Obama meet qualifications spelled out by the Constitution regarding the birth issue. I think Palin is right that we should keep focus on his policies. However, I also think it is important to clarify who makes certain that candidates for our government do meet the qualifications set out in our laws. I think if someone wants to run, the FBI should be asigned to do two things. First to ascerntain they meet what is required by law and second to determine if they can pass a top secret security clearance check. Seems like if you are holding the key to THE BOMB, someone out to make sure you can pass security at the highest level. Frankly, I think this is more of an issue with Obama because of the people he associated with for several years. I know that when I had to get a top secret clearance, it took several months and a lot of people I knew where questioned.

I don't think it's anything awful, but I bet there's something mildly embarrassing on it. Like a typo saying "F" instead of "M," or a wrong last name - things that would have been corrected in the final official records, but which would have had nearly no effect on his campaign.
Except for giving a really, REALLY serious guy with little or no sense of humor something to be humble about, of course. He doesn't really do humble, does he?
Maybe his first "real" name was Barbara? There's a great new rumor! All we need to do is feed it to one of next year's Democrat Presidential hopefuls - they'd get it moving, just like Hilary's folks did when they started the whole Birther silliness.

Tina S, you're just being contrary. Save what little credibility you have.
We have the dumbest president every, not counting his administration, especially Clinton and the Intelligience czar. Palin is like buckley when compared to them.
I do remember the left really going after McCain saying he is ineligible to be president because he was born in Panama. What would some of the left be doing today if McCain was president? Questioning his legitimacy. ww

Obama can’t prove he was born in the U.S. and won’t release his college records and it is the birthers who can’t come up with any proof. The birthers have won about every debate I seen such as a short form of Certificate of life birth doesn’t show and prove where someone is born. Neither does a birth announcement in a newspaper that stated a set of parents using the grandparent address had a baby.
In the end Obama is still President I I agree with Palin that it more of a distraction than anything. However if this was a Republican the MSM would go after it big time. Remember Bush’s National Guard records? The military release all they could find and the press still kept at it to a point where they ended up producing phony documents against him.
The main arguments the left has is “you are stupid if you have doubts” and “well everyone knows he a natural born citizen”.

I remember some bloggers going after McCain because he was born in Panama. I can not recall any democrat politicians or even any prominant liberal pundits doing so. On the other hand, there are loads of republican politicians and pundits that support the birthers. That's the difference as I see it.

I guess the sitting guv of Hawaii is not just a birther, but an extra sooper-dooper birther because just a few weeks ago he promised to bring out the long form birth certificate. A week or so later he sheepishly mumbled 'oh, um well I can't get it um er ah it has to be authorized by someone else um er mumble mumble uh, nevermind'.
What an embarrassing soap opera over such a small detail. Just release it already and be done with it. It's no big deal, probably just some small typo or the 'race' is marked as white or some other unimportant detail. Release it and move on.

I am so happy that our President has completely ignored these birthers people who don't have any facts in hand but just lies that FoxsNews AKA FakeNews spread with the blessing of the GOP (Gay Old Party). I enjoy seeing the birthers fail in our US Courts, dullards, win a case or as they say “put up or shut-up”. When I applied for a US Passport, I sent in my US birth certificate, as all US citizens have to send in. Long before our current President, became President, he applied and traveled under a US Passport by sending in his US birth certificate. But the birthers would like you to believe that there is a vast conspiracy, its the passport office, its the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the United States. Guess what its not them, if truth be told, it’s the crazy birthers. The birthers have no proof, just lies.
