Probably for the exact same reason we our Navy now negotiates with pirates.

Maybe they were going to repatriate the captured pirates to the mothership first and then blow them all up?
Seriously, just start killing the bastards on sight.

I'll bet if we started a disinformation campaign promoting the idea that the pirates were pro-American obama would have that mother ship at the bottom of the Indian Ocean within 24 hours.

There is potentially one legit reason why the mothership is still afloat. The motherships are often hijacked fishing vessel - with the former crews aboard as innocent hostages.
What I don't understand is why there were any of the pirates captured after the initial fight.

Okay, after the sarcasm, the MOST effective way to deal with this problem takes iron resolve and unwavering dedication. You react with total brutality in the response. As in gone, dead, eradicated, PERIOD. No quarter, no prisoners. Too bad for the hostages. The same applies to the Home base, and I mean thorough.
Until it's made crystal clear that these actions result in dead perpetrators on ALL levels. Call it removing the incentive.

There are certain criterias that need to be meet before you can kill someone. At least two forms of Positive ID through intelligence sources must confirm they are bad guys. There may even be a Hostile attempt factored in there. The bottom line, you just don't go killing people, as the news and other organizations will turn this around unless you have very good intelligence and can counter.

The White House says the reason Obama hasn't said anything about Libya is "a scheduling conflict." Heh.
He was able to clear his busy schedule of parties and golf trips to condemn a long-standing US ally in Egypt, but is too busy to comment on the massacre of civilians by a long-standing US enemy and terror sponsor in Libya?
And nothing serious done about piracy in Somalia either? Perhaps the targets being white Christian Americans has something to do with it? As with the unrest in North Africa, Obama tends to side against American interests.
We not only know where the pirate "mother" ship is, we know where their main bases and port lives, too. It would be target practice for our guys.
But it takes a will, it takes a spine, and it takes a desire to defend American interests. Obama lacks the latter two, and only has will to obey his union overlords and radical mentors.

They know they have hostages on board that will be killed if they are forcibly boarded but i believe we could fashion some cables with floats that would look like garbage on the sea that would wrap around thier propellers stranding them far from shore. If they radioed for help from their partners in crime they could also be snagged. Deployed hunter pirates could be prevented from returning to the mother ship for food and fuel.

Good question Rick. Why would the mother ship not be boarded and re-taken? Why would it not be disabled and left dead in the water? Why? Why? Why? I have a feeling there is some decisive hand wringing going on in Washington.
