Or so he tells me via email:
Rick --
Today, we are filing papers to launch our 2012 campaign.
We're doing this now because the politics we believe in does not start with expensive TV ads or extravaganzas, but with you -- with people organizing block-by-block, talking to neighbors, co-workers, and friends. And that kind of campaign takes time to build.
So even though I'm focused on the job you elected me to do, and the race may not reach full speed for a year or more, the work of laying the foundation for our campaign must start today.
We've always known that lasting change wouldn't come quickly or easily. It never does. But as my administration and folks across the country fight to protect the progress we've made -- and make more -- we also need to begin mobilizing for 2012, long before the time comes for me to begin campaigning in earnest.
As we take this step, I'd like to share a video that features some folks like you who are helping to lead the way on this journey. Please take a moment to watch:In the coming days, supporters like you will begin forging a new organization that we'll build together in cities and towns across the country. And I'll need you to help shape our plan as we create a campaign that's farther reaching, more focused, and more innovative than anything we've built before.
We'll start by doing something unprecedented: coordinating millions of one-on-one conversations between supporters across every single state, reconnecting old friends, inspiring new ones to join the cause, and readying ourselves for next year's fight.
This will be my final campaign, at least as a candidate. But the cause of making a lasting difference for our families, our communities, and our country has never been about one person. And it will succeed only if we work together.
There will be much more to come as the race unfolds. Today, simply let us know you're in to help us begin, and then spread the word:

Thank you,
Barack
Interestingly enough, not all is well in liberal land:
If Hillary Clinton's primary voters and President Obama had their relationship status listed on their Facebook pages, it would change from "Married" to "It's complicated."
To be fair, Hillary voters never fell in love with Obama, they just fell in line. Their relationship is less like a Julia Roberts chick flick and more like a Bengali arranged marriage.
Because of their arrangement, Hillary-loving Obama voters are quick to jump ship whenever Mr. Hope-and-Change looks like he's getting played again by his political opponents, is in over his head or is dissing their girl.
Despite Obama's anti-climactic campaign announcement just now, according to all the recent polls, Hillary voters aren't only jumping ship -- they're taking their fins, snorkels and pina coladas with them.
Get the popcorn... this is gonna get good.
UPDATE: The GOP response... good... but... they'll need better:

Bill and Barry will both play the race card. I think Billy is better then Barack.
Neither has a prayer in hell of reaching the promised land of Lewinski lip locks.

Oh, he's focused on the job at hand, all right. Yesterday he played a round of golf again.

May God protect America, at least until we can correct our mistake.

Funny writing a letter takes less TVbthan producing a TV commercial. Funny how the letter came after the TV commercial.

I have been saying for months that Hillary will be on the ballot. Whether it is at the top or replacing Biden I dont know but Obama will have to have her to win the election if she doesnt pull the rug out from under him and take the top spot.

Obama and his fondness for golf has lots of company. The only president of thet last eleven presidents since and including Eishehower, who didn´t play alot of golf, when they were president, was Jimmy Carter.
Richard Nixon took it up seriously when he became vice-president and it was Ronald Reagan´s favorite sport. He said his biggest loss in his presidency was "his terrible handicap".

Oh I forgot LBJ wasn´t fond of the links. But the sweep of the last five Republican Presidents is preserved for enjoying golf when president.

Why yes Steve
I can clearly remember Reagan saying
"Mr Gorbachov, tear down this wall" and then grabbing his 3 wood to tee off with.
And how could I forget Bush saying "We got him" (saddam) right before picking up his putter on the 11th hole.
And how about Nixon ordering the removal of troops from vietnam from the sand bunker on the 17th hole.
How about Truman annoucning the dropping of the atom bomb from the clubhouse before he played a round.
or Roosevelt saying "there is nothing to fear but fear itself" prior to teeing off on the 3rd hole.
Want to compare the above examples to Obama
"focused like a razor on jobs" prior to going to his golf game?
