Many of the Letters to the Editor are written to make three points:
1) The writer is an idiot.
2) The writer is proud that they are an idiot.
3) The writer wants the world to know how proud he is to be an idiot.
In this case, maybe "idiot" is not the best word to use.
The guy is on camera, insulting a reporter. How long does he think he can keep his identity a secret? One of his friends has probably already twittered his name to the world.
