The White House published this photo this afternoon, showing President Obama, Vice President Biden, SecState Hillary Clinton, SecDef Robert Gates and others crowded around a table in the White House Situation Room, watching a live video feed of last night's raid on Osama Bin Laden's compound in Pakistan.
The photo reminded me of this recent quote from the President:
The Oval Office, I always thought I was going to have really cool phones and stuff. I'm like, c'mon guys, I'm the president of the United States. Where's the fancy buttons and stuff and the big screen comes up? It doesn't happen.I also noticed that James Rebhorn, John Spencer, E. G. Marshall, Kevin McCarthy, William Devane, Robert Loggia, and others who have nimbly guided our nation through numerous fictional periods of crisis over the years were missing from the photo.
Even the President can't always have everything, I guess.

Gates seems to be the only one in that shot who was ever given the little leadership tip: "look like you've been there before." OK, maybe Mullen, too.

I have to admit Comrade Obama has a point: the Situation Room has MUCH cooler technology in the movies, and has for decades. Only six chairs, and those not even in a omnivision array! They don't even have cupholders!
They could at least turn down the lights and install a bunch of LEDs of various color and flash patterns on the walls to give the illusion of a cool, high-tech world nerve center.

I don't know about that. This President was throwing a White House Party every ten days. He celibrated the Stimulus with $1,000 beef. He's thrown a pizza party by flying in pizza from Chicago. He has his personal trainer flying in once a month because God knows there isn't a qualified person around D.C.

Notice that we get a picture of obama et al watching the video of the action and getting named for credit but the men who actually put their lives on the line to make it happen are sworn to secrecy and we will never know their names or faces.
Arrogant hypocrites. As if watching a TV monitor was really all that difficult. If they could award themselves Silver Stars for playing HALO in their living rooms they would.
