He's losing more and more of his base... but really, where else are they going to go? My hope is they simply stay home and stew on Election day, 2012:
Peter Fonda launched a four-letter attack on US President Barack Obama at the Cannes film festival on Wednesday, calling him a traitor over the handling of the aftermath of the Gulf oil spill.
The star of the 1969 road movie "Easy Rider" was in Cannes for the premiere of "The Big Fix" by Rebecca and Josh Tickell, the only feature documentary in the official selection at the Cannes film festival this year.
Fonda -- a keen environmentalist and co-producer of the film which centres on the explosion of the BP oil rig Deepwater Horizon, the ensuing spill and its consequences -- accused Washington of trying to gag reporting on the issue.
"I sent an email to President Obama saying, 'You are a f(expletive) traitor,' using those words... 'You're a traitor, you allowed foreign boots on our soil telling our military -- in this case the coastguard -- what they can and could not do, and telling us, the citizens of the United States, what we could or could not do'."
That last reference is about Obama allegedly kowtowing to the Brits during the Katrina BP (thanks tim *) debacle and I'll let others chime in on the veracity and relevance of that particular charge but the traitor label... I think many could go along with that... certainly a traitor to the ideals that made this country great.

If you think Fonda is pissed, have you seen the column Ted Rall wrote recently?
Seems he's equally pissed at Obama and no one will run his anti-obama comics.
Karma, coming to an Obama supporter near you.

Uhm, this doesn't really point to anything relating to Obama's base, or even Fonda's abandoning Obama - it's all about one issue, the BP oil spill.
Wew, for a second there I thought Obama had somehow gotten unpopular.

Peter Fonda is still alive??
That said, let's not confuse the confused ramblings of a washed-up drug addict with any real degree of political impact for the Teleprompter.
Obama's "base" consists of the greatest collection of useful idiots ever assembled. They're either too young to have a clue, too dependent on gov't handouts to be sentient or they're literally too senile to have a clue. Or they're voting to make themselves "feel good" about Obama's skin color. Or they hate America with a passion. Or they're mind-numbingly stupid.
True, a small number of people who voted in 2008 for the Teleprompter might stay home this time around -- or might have died, or gotten themselves incarcerated or perhaps gone catatonic in the interim -- but in the greater scheme of things we're talking about a tiny, tiny segment of the electorate.
Obama will receive 95% of the black vote on heavy turnout. He'll get a majority of the Latino vote (albeit less than last time around). He'll get a large majority (upwards of 80%) of the public sector union vote. He'll get upwards of 80% of the young student vote (albeit on less turnout than in 2008). He'll get an overwhelming majority of the wealthy leftist vote. The Oprah-saddled female vote. The perpetually unemployed. Felons. Slackers. Arrested development rejects. Nitwits. So on, so forth.
It'll take a herculean effort to remove Obama from office. Are conservatives up to the task?? We better hope so.

Tsar, what you stated is true but what brought Obamalama into office was the heavy independent voter. That is where the republicans can focus. Also, in 2008 the republicans had McCain which caused a lot of conservatives to sit it out. ww

Though I do not often agree with Mr. Fonda on anything, in this case he is right.
Mr. Obama oversaw the worst environmental disaster (the Gulf Oil Spill) this country has ever experienced and did nothing Mr. Bush’s response to New Orleans were a few days late while Mr. Obama sat and did nothing for over a month and then all he did was threaten BP with a law suit. Remember the Exxon Valdez we heard about that in every news media for months, every environmental nut group screamed at the top of their lungs and thru whining fits like a small child holding it breathe. The gulf was easily 100 times worst and the media only said nice thing about the government poor reaction (or real non-reaction) and the enviro nuts looked the other way and said nothing.
Mr. Obama like to talk the talk but runs like a frighten child when he actually has to do something.
The Environmental groups and our laughingly called EPA are much more to blame because they just smiled and let it pass, and still try to say that the whole event is because of BP instead of a lack of response by this administration.
The media well they have been the Obama Public Relations (Propaganda) Department for so long time and there credibility is so low they are not capable of honest reporting.
