Back in December of 2010 we discovered that Columbia Professor (and HuffPo contributor) David Epstein was arrested and charged with felony incest.
Robert Stacey McCain brings us up to date:
I would certainly expect this to qualify as news. I would further expect Columbia University to be aware of the conviction, and to take appropriate steps to defend the University's reputation. Unless of course Columbia finds the practice of incest is a valuable attribute amongst their faculty. Not News? You will recall that Palin-hating blogger David Epstein was arrested in December and charged with felony incest for having sex with his adult daughter (now 24) from 2006 through 2009.
One of our readers has obtained court documents (for Case #2010NY090162) indicating that Epstein copped a plea to a misdemeanor charge of attempted incest. (Click the image to enlarge).
That ruling was on May 11 -- two weeks ago -- and yet I can find no news reports about Epstein's conviction. You might think that at least the New York Times would find the disposition of this case newsworthy.
The alert reader who informed me of this previously unreported news also passed along the court documents to some members of the Columbia University faculty, resulting in this angry e-mail from Epstein's lawyer:
From: Matthew Galluzzo

Subject: notice
To: [Redacted]Mr. [Redacted], I am an attorney and I represent Dr. Epstein. Please be advised that he does not wish to receive any further communications from you ever again. I have already alerted the District Attorney's Office to the emails you have sent him thus far, and should you ever contact him or me again, we will make the appropriate criminal complaint to law enforcement.

Is Epstein's behavior something that the university tolerates or approves?
Someone should ask Professor John Huber (jdh39@columbia.edu), chairman of the Department of Political Science, or Columbia University President Lee Bollinger (officeofthepresident@columbia.edu).
Since the LSM are once again delinquent in their reportorial duties in that they are not covering this and are not asking the hard questions, it seems incumbent upon the dextrosphere to contact the worthies mentioned in McCain's blog posting to ensure they are indeed aware of the facts and enquire as to what they intend to do about their incestuous faculty member.

Cut the professor some slack. His daughter was in her early 20's, not 12. So it's not incest-incest.
As for Columbia Univ., cut them some slack too. All the guy did was plead guilty to misdemeanor attempted incest. It's not as if he was convicted of felony incest. Besides, having a Prof. on staff that's been convicted of misdemeanor incest adds to the multi-cultural, progressive atmosphere on campus.
If you were lucky enough to be spending $60,000 per year in tuition and room and board you'd want your 18 year-old son or daughter to be taught by a guy like this. Especially since your kid after getting a liberal arts degree in this economy will have the same job prospects as a juvenile delinquent with a speech impediment.
Get with the program, Rodney. Stop being so judgmental. Embrace diversity.

Depends on what the meaning of incest is?
Were there cigars used? Was there touching of lips? Or was it just about sex? Maybe Arianna can clear this all up.

Don't worry, the supermarket tabloids will pick this up in no time. That's where it belongs, and that's where you'll find it.
Ignoring the sexual exploits of elected Republican officials while attempting to smear liberals using a some no-name blogger - how pathetic.
Now THAT's something to write about, Rodney - but you wont' find a single word on the blog about Ensign's dalliances.
How... interesting. But feel free to complain about a LSM cover-up. It's hypocritical of you to do so, but feel free. It's entertaining.. in a train wreck kinda way.
Say - anyone know who won in NY's 26th congressional election yesterday? I looked all over Wizbang and can't find a single word on the subject.

Art W,
At a minimum Ensign needs to go, and go he will. If they can build a case against him, he should be prosecuted. By the same token, there is no conviction nor plea deal at this point in the investigation.
Epstein cut a plea bargain which is part of the public record, though strangely un-reported.
And as long as your playing this game, what are your thoughts on Shiny Pony aka John Edwards?

The fact is that academia does give a rat's ass what you do as long as your politics are sufficiently leftist. The left will apologize for any rapist (Polanski, DSK),or fraud (Churchill and a legion of others) as long as they belong to the tribe. You can assault young girls, plagiarize your entire work portfolio, hang a noose outside your office and claim to be the victim of hate crimes and it's all OK because you are a leftist.
But be a conservative or worse yet, a Christian (gasp!), and you will be run out of town on a rail at the earliest opportunity.

Will what ought be the Temple of Knowledge's Flame continue her declension into the mouthpiece for the global elite's (genetic) equalitarian fallacies? Will the push to realize the Homo Americanus new man falter under the weight of its own patent unrealizability before European Man is abolished in fact?
