One of the more reprehensible actions by the mainstream media as of late has been their call for citizen-journalists to wade through some 24,000 pages of emails obtained by the Washington Post and New York Times from the state of Alaska, during the tenure of Sarah Palin as governor.
(I know, I know ... you're probably wondering when they are going to ask for citizen-journalists to go through Barack Obama's email from his days as a member of the board of directors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, or from his tenure as an Illinois state senator, or as a US senator. I mean, surely they've done their darndest to obtain all those emails, haven't they? After all, the man could be re-elected President of the United States.)
So far, they've pretty much failed to turn up anything -- except for items like this one, a poignant letter sent by Palin to her staff in anticipation of the birth of her son Trig. Palin composed the letter as a message from God to the Palin family. You should click the link and read it all, but here is a touching excerpt:
More than anything else I've seen in a long time, this letter represents what so many love about Palin, and why rich, over-educated, secularist, elitist, progressive liberals hate her so intensely. Her idea of perfection is unconditional love for those around her, regardless of whether they 'measure up' by human standards, and the freedom to express that love by making choices that are largely unaffected by the latest progressive values preached by the media/entertainment complex.Every child is created special, with awesome purpose and amazing potential. Children are the most precious and promising ingredient in this mixed up world you live in down there on earth. Trig is no different, except he has one extra chromosome. Doctors call it "Down's Syndrome", and Downs kids have challenges, but can bring you much delight and more love than you can ever imagine! Just wait and see, let me prove this, because I only want the best for you!
Some of the rest of the world may not want him, but take comfort in that because the world will not compete for him. Take care of him and he will always be yours!
Trig's mom and dad don't want people to focus on the baby's extra chromosome. They're human, so they haven't known how to explain this to people who are so caring and are interested in this new little Alaskan. Sarah and Todd want people to share in the joy of this gift I'm giving to the Palin family, and the greater Alaska family.
Many people won't understand_ and I understand that. Some will think Trig should not be allowed to be born because they fear a Downs child won't be considered "perfect" in your world. (But tell me, what do you earthlings consider "perfect" or even "normal" anyway? Have you peeked down any grocery store isle, or school hallway, or into your office lunchroom lately? Or considered the odd celebrities you celebrate as "perfect" on t.v.? Have you noticed I make 'em all shapes and sizes? Believe me, there is no "perfect"!)
Many people will express sympathy, but you don't want or need that, because Trig will be a joy. You will have to trust me on this.
I know it will take time to grasp this and come to accept that I only want the best for you, and I only give my best. Remember though: "My ways are not your ways, my thoughts are not your thoughts- for as the heavens are higher than the earth, my ways are higher than yours!"
She has no use for a room full of Ivy League-educated stuffed shirts telling her what she should do, and she believes that most of the rest of us have little need for that sort of thing as well. She also seems to have little interest in the trappings of political power and the temptation to use that power both to enrich herself and simultaneously destroy her enemies.
So I guess that settles it. We ABSOLUTELY cannot have that kind of person as a leader in this country.

Well there you have it. She'd never FIT IN with the Washington crowd. They're way to busy "serving the people" - as they like to call it.

I had read this letter earlier on the weekend and it touched me deeply.
Thoughtful, decent, spiritual in the best possible way, Christian in love, humble, and last but not least, honest.
Yeah, can't have her for president (or any kind of leadership). She just wouldn't fit in with all of that "progressive" thought going around.
Her love of life, flawed, beautiful life with all of its difficulties and challenges flies in the face of those who only want beautiful and perfect. Of course, they can't have perfect, no matter how they try so they need to tear down those who find beauty in every person and the possibility of beauty in every situation.

Sadly I must agree with Michael Laprarie and GarandFan: Sarah Palin is clearly unqualified!
She's a genuine human being...HONESTLY outspoken...has run a business...has strong convictions on God, Life and morality...has government and private Executive experience...loves America...etc...!!
Assuming Obama is the model of what a President should be and he is NONE of those things then clearly Palin is not qualified. /sarc

Sounds similar doesn't it? Sarah loves America. She is not in awe of a liberal elitist view of politics and never had any desire to obtain a title for the titles sake(Ivy league education vs any average college). She is everything that snobs cannot stand. "She is not in awe of a liberal elitist view of politics and never had any desire to obtain a title for the titles sake(Ivy league education vs any average college). She is everything that snobs cannot stand."
One thing about being 'elite' - you have to constantly have someone confirming your elite status. If you're a snob, you need someone you can be superior to.
She's not impressed by titles, clothes, watches, all the trappings of the 'elite'. She's comfortable in expensive clothes - but she's also comfortable in a parka and mukluks. She's an anti-snob - secure in herself.
"Not only is she not an elitist, she is not in awe of the Elite Class that seems to be wanting to rule the world through passive-aggressive means. She loves America, Americans and our uniqueness."
And that's why she's so hated. She doesn't 'appreciate' properly just how wonderful and unique the self-styled 'elite' are. She fails to show proper deference, and doesn't give a damn if they're in expensive suits and expensive shoes and have gone to all the right schools and had all the right contacts - what she looks at are the results. She measures words against actions, intentions against what comes of them.
And that's where the elite fail badly.

Herein lies an important clue to the identity and future of Sarah Palin. She takes her direction from faith in God. She believes that verse that says "If God be for us then who can stand against us?" So if God intends her to be President, all of the heads in liberal America may explode, but she will be President. That's what Sarah knows.
BTW, if God doesn't have that in His Plan, she's okay with that, too. (me, too)
And that confuses the political Archetypes like Karl Rove and Chas Krauthammer, geniuses, eh? Not so much.
Like Sarah, I believe "Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in this world."

“According to Sarah's timetable, she's a friggin' superwoman. April 17 @ 1:30 a.m. Alaska time, she's awake w/leaking amniotic fluid, stays awake all day giving her speech, then takes two flights while having "contractions" and arriving in Anchorage to give birth 7 hours later on April 18 @ 6:30 A.M. Feeling all wide awake and ready to go to work, she's sending emails only 3 hours later. She would have gone approximately 32 hours without anything but short naps, including going through induced labor via Pitocin I.V. and she's not tired??? Bullshit, Sarah, those e-mails tell me you didn't give birth. I've spoken to many women in their 40's and they all say the same thing. The older you get, it's much more difficult to be pregnant, you become tired much more easily and labor is more difficult at 40 than it is at 30 or 20. Is there anything this woman doesn't lie about???? Anything?...
I don't think there's a woman alive who hasn't just curled up and wanted to go to sleep after being in labor for hours and being awake for more than 30 hours straight as Palin depicts herself with the emails being sent a few hours after Trig's "birth." There are so many smoking guns in this story of hers that they end up being a smoking cannon going off to warn everyone that she's lying, as usual.”

Smoking Gun - you are the idiot. Sarah Palin gave birth FIVE times. You need to stop talking to liberal women who've waited until forty to have a baby - after thirty or so abortions. The birth experience is quite different woman to woman, which explains why someone can have five children easily, and so many others have one or two.
But then you have to be incapable of rational thought to promote your lie. Please explain why Bristol gave birth to a Down Syndrome baby, something that happens predominantly to women over FORTY. Then explain why her 'next' pregnancy produced a normal child. Then explain why Palin hid one pregnancy but not the other. Why not claim both? Egads. Of all the stupid accusations...

Please, though, tell me how this letter shows that she has unconditional love for people who are different or malfunctioned or not perfect, when she denounces many humans (including American) based on their sexual orientation?
I am an independent voter - always have been - so I don't have an angenda here to target Palin. Please, I just would like someone to clarify this for me, because while I think Palin has many positive qualifications and I give her credit for MANY things she has done so far in her career, I don't see how this article or anyone can say she has unconditional love for people different than herself.
