Case closed!

Jim Addison,
Care to say something relevant about the scholarship or just want to make an ad hominem attack on someone because they aren't at an Ivy League school?
I can tell you that, living in Boston, there is absolutely nothing that separates the ability of a Harvard professor from those at so-called lesser institutions, with the possible exception of a huge ego. Real scholarship takes place at other institutions too.

Extremely powerful unions, for one. Massive federal land ownership and control, for another. A state constitution that reserves all mineral rights to the state, for a third.
There are people up there living free mainly because it's a huge, sparsely populated state -- but the majority, who live within an hour's drive of Anchorage, really don't have that "rugged individualist" ethic people in the Lower 48 reflexively ascribe.

jim m ~ I don't really care whether the Assistant Professors were at Harvard or Podunk Community College. "Social sciences" are generally more subjective and social than scientific. In the end, the criteria were decided upon by a couple of junior academics.
You can call that "scholarship" if you like. I call it fertilizer.

Fair enough. I can agree about social sciences but you still haven't offered any real criticism of the work itself only the people who conducted it.
It remains an interesting piece for discussion.
