I really enjoyed this song when it came out. I was re-listening to it recently, and it occurred to me that it needs a new cover -- preferably by someone with a really creepy, disturbing tone. Kind of like Phil Collins when he did "Mama" with Genesis. Or maybe Disturbed. Maybe Christina Aguilera -- say what you want, the gal's got major pipes.

There was a jazz singer that looks like Jodie Foster. A friend has her dvd. So maybe he will know her name. Downloaded the Carnes version on my phone though so thanks.

I liked Kim Carnes back in the day, too. Thanks for the blast from the past.

I'd considered Meat Loaf, no sooner than Bat 2. I'd also thought about Jim Carrey, after his cover of "I Am The Walrus."
Then I thought about one more singer, one I and a lot of others can't stand. But when she does covers of others' songs, she really can kick the crap out of them. It's her own stuff that makes me want to drive an icepick through my ears.
Celine Dion.
Think about it. "It's All Coming Back To Me" and "I Drove All Night" Celine, NOT "My Heart Will Go On" Celine.
Kind of like "Mama" Phil Collins, and not "You'll Be In My Heart" or "Another Day In Paradise" Phil.
She could totally own this song.

Son Of The Godfather:
Celine with "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" links to Meatloaf through Jim Steinman.
Both Celine and Meatloaf have that story-telling quality everyone can relate to.
Although not a personal fave, I can definitely see (hear) Celine mastering this. Now I've got to go listen to Bat1 & 2 'cuz I feel all dirty from my previous sentence. :)

Why would anyone want to?
I thought they buried all of Kim Carnes' "music" with Don Kirshner . . .

I worry about you sometimes, Jay.
The fact that you are enamored with this song is quite disturbing.
That said, I could see Springsteen doing this with a balls to the wall Clarence Clemons sax replacing the guitar solo.
