Rumor-Mongering: Sarah Palin Makes Her Presidential Decision Next Week?

Sarah and a gun

If you can’t believe completely anonymous campaign rumors on the internet, what can you believe? When this first came out, I sat back on the old ‘Publish’ button and waited. Waited for some reason, I can’t say why. Other people hit that ‘Publish’ button, then retracted. Maybe the reason I waited was because of Britney Spears.

I’m not comparing Spears to Palin in other way than the goings on in their lives is massively interesting to some. Back in the 2006, I got my start over at Pop! by my constant, consistent, and mildly obsessive tracking of all things Britney. For a while, no matter what she did, wore, slept with, birthed, cut off or killed was big news. And that was without her even trying. So, now, is Sarah Palin.

With Sarah Palin, even non-stories are stories. And the press, acting like paparazzi, gets mad because she treats them like paparazzi. There’s a reason Sarah Palin’s Alaska was a big hit (stalker and all). Even non-stories are stories. Because it’s Sarah Palin.

I’m not gonna blame McCain in this case, as he probably thought he had good, reliable information. He just needed to sit on it for a while. He’s not the first person in the world to get antsy with the ‘Publish’ button. Won’t be the last, either.

ADDED

Speaking of naps, I was taking one after post title revision #4 (followed quickly by revision #4.1), and missed the update to the update. No denial is confirmation, eh? Game still on, I’d say.

POLLS

As an aside, I’m about sick of seeing her name in polls when she isn’t officially running. Why put her on there (and Rick Perry, too) if she isn’t even eligible. I get the name recognition thing, but Trump was on the polls, too. He was never running.

Sarah Palin's Alaska Ratings Plummet

TLC has cancelled the former Alaskan governor's reality series, which premiered on Nov. 14 to the network's best ever launch rating. Since then, however, ratings have dropped, and dropped, and dropped.

The final episode of the show will air tonight on TLC, at 8PM EST. It will be a two-hour series finale, not season finale, according to Entertainment Weekly and MSNBC.

Lying about the popularity of her show isn't rumor-monogering. It's uhm... lying.

Another ridiculous result: Today Rasmussen is saying 83% of 'Republican primary voters' will support the GOP nomination regardless of who might result.

93% of TEAs, so defined intend to do so!

Too bad I'm not a paying subscriber that I might actually pursue their 'methodology' beyond it being robocalls.

But when one's data defies belief one ought to look closer.

Speaking of lying, I'm trying to find where you got that story from in your comment. No link. Can't verify.

However, what I can find are all the places where it says the series was not picked up for a second season. None of them ever use the term 'cancelled'. Few television shows get a second season.

Still, it was the "best ever launch rating" from your non-story there.

You do realize that you still haven't linked to the story you're quoting, right? I still don't know where you got that particular quote from, but that isn't really the issue. I used The Google to search for stuff, too. I just don't know where you found that. I'm trying to explain this, because you don't seem to be getting my hangup.

S'wanyways, I went to the first link I got (searches go to different places for different people), and here's what the ultra-right wing leaning blog the Huffington Post conjectured:

Reasons are unclear [for the series ending], but insiders give two theories: one, committing to a second season could show signs that she's not committed to running for President in 2012; and two, she fears that if she does run, TLC would have to give equal air time to her would-be opponents for the Presidency.

So, still sounds like this was all in Palin's control. So, this was most-likely one and done. Still did well (for a TLC show).

You haven't proven I'm a liar. But you have proven you can use Google. Well done.

Your hangups aren't my hangups. You're not still suggesting that Sarah's show was wildly popular, are you? I mean, the show was cancelled. They don't normally cancel wildly popular shows.

To see Art W explode in a paroxysm of link whoring to explain the voices in his head.

That having been said I find it amusing to watch the left go into fits of paralyzing stupidity trying to attack a nonentity in the presidential race.

Jim Addison:

McCain's source is someone at a business which contracts for campaign materials. These are people who may need significant lead time to plan for mass production of signs, bumper stickers, brochures, etc. - especially if their schedule is filling up with work for other candidates.

Stacy himself says it was a time frame for a decision, not an announcement, so he would have been sly to sit on it until next week, check with his source as to what the decision was when it came, and broke THAT story.

~~~~~
Like most Democrats, Art W finds taking other people's property for his own use to be convenient. They call it "economic justice," I believe - but the term is only used by the thieves, victims don't see it that way.
Don L :
Well I'm not as tired of hearing her name as I am of people on both sides of the isle who fear her, trying to take her down with every known deceptive technique known to mankind -not the least of which is long articles complaining about hearing too much about her.
It so reminds me of those professional intellectual atheists who spend their entire lives fighting the God they insist doesn't exist.
