Two have surfaced recently.
The first for the President:
President Obama has received a re-election endorsement he might not be crazy about.
It comes from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
Medvedev told the Financial Times that efforts to improve U.S.-Russian relations may lose momentum under a new administration.
"If another person becomes U.S. president, then he may have another course," Medvedev said.
Medvedev had some rather harsh things to say about Obama's Republican opponents.
That should speak volumes.
As should this:
Hours after formally announcing his presidential bid, former ambassador to China Jon Huntsman (R) won an endorsement from an unexpected source: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).
At his weekly Capitol news conference, Reid was asked whether he thought the United States was ready for a Mormon president. Huntsman and his fellow rival for the 2012 GOP presidential nod, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, are both Mormon, as is Reid. A Gallup poll released Monday showed that 22 percent of Americans would not vote for a Mormon for president.
"I feel very comfortable that they're not ready for - certainly they're not ready for the former governor of Massachusetts," Reid said. "Which says, in that race, if I had a choice, I'd favor Huntsman over Romney."
I see little in Huntsman that excites me. After the Harry Reid endorsement, I see much less.

(D)CNN ran quite a lengthy story on Huntsman last night. I kind of got the feeling that they were pumping him up: "If you MUST vote for a (grimace) Republican, here's a good choice for us... er, for you!"
I will admit that many of the GOP's contenders are likely little-known to any but us hard-core political junkies, but Huntsman seems to be virtually unknown. Why, then, the buzz over his announcement? Could it be that MiniTru is trying to repeat their success in 2008, i.e. getting a RINO who creates little enthusiasm even among his own base nominated so the democrat would have clearer sailing to victory? Inquiring minds want to know...

Regarding Huntsman, the MSM is only looking for a "sensible" Republican to lament about after the 2012 , since it is likely that a strong conservative will be nominated (and eventually elected).

Feels kind of like PETA endorsing a pro-hunting/gun rights candidate, or a pro-life candidate being endorsed by NAMBLA.
Seems strange, whatever...
Re Huntsman - the Anyone But Obama factor is strong, but I'd sure prefer the media not 'select' the candidate this time.
Hey, and all you old farts in the GOP? I don't give a damn about your seniority, whether it's 'your turn' or not, whether you've got your tickets punched, and have gotten all the 'right people' supporting your bid - your heads have been so solidly up your asses with a 'go along, don't rock the boat, don't upset the crazy Dems or the Media' mentality that I consider you pretty damn suspect at this point.
So - now's your chance to impress us with ideas and plans. Make 'em bold, make 'em radical - because we're way past the time for 'business as usual'. That's what got us in this mess in the first place!

Medvedev is right. Russia will have to deal with a President that won't just roll over and refuse to do what is right to protect our nation and our allies.
I'm sure that Medvedev would prefer to have someone like obama as President. That is, someone who betrays our allies at every turn and leaves America friendless.

Limbaugh nailed it contrasting the Huntsman announcement with Reagan's at the Statue of Liberty. I was just in HS when Reagan made that announcement so it had faded form my recollection. Thanks to Rush for reminding me just how bold and confident Reagan was.
Huntsman is another squishy GOP candidate in the Rudy McRomney mold. If he wins the nomination, then Obama wins the election.
If the Reid "endorsement" didn't elicit a collective groan in the Huntsman camp, I don't know what would. Seems to me that would be the kiss of death with Conservatives (not to be confused with republicans).

Reid's endorsement means that Huntsman is the GOP candidate most likely to get dem votes if the dems fail to field a candidate.
Unfortunately for Huntsman, it seems rather unlikely that if obama does not run the dems will not find someone to replace him. Or maybe Huntsman aspires to be that replacement after he gets run out of the GOP primaries?

Of course the Russians want Obama reelected. He is proposing to just hand them over all our missile defense secrets - which in turn will disclose many of our missile secrets and possibly enable countermeasures to missile defense.
Without a traitor in the White House, they won't get the benefits of deeply invasive espionage for free.
