Mark Halperin, editor-at-large for Time, called President Obama "a dick" on Thursday on a popular MSNBC morning show and then quickly apologized.
"I thought he was a dick yesterday," Halperin, who also is a senior political analyst for MSNBC, said on Morning Joe, referring to the President's conduct during his press conference.
Host Joe Scarborough hoped to prevent the comment from being broadcast, saying, "Delay that. Delay that. What are you doing? I can't believe... don't do that. Did we delay that?"
Just minutes later, Halperin quickly apologized to the president and viewers for his choice of words. "Joking aside, this is an absolute apology. I shouldn't have said it. I apologize to the president and the viewers who heard me say that," Halperin said.
"We're going to have a meeting after the show," Scarborough said.
Take that little slip and add in the following linked stories stripped from Drudge and I think it spells trouble for Team Obama but hope and change for Team USA:
Is America waking up to the disaster that is Barack Hussein Obama?
Keeping my fingers crossed.
UPDATE: Halperin has been suspended:
Mark Halperin has already apologized at least 4 times for calling President Obama a dick this morning, but that's not enough for MSNBC, who has suspended the TIME editor as an analyst.
The statement:
Mark Halperin's comments this morning were completely inappropriate and unacceptable. We apologize to the President, The White House and all of our viewers. We strive for a high level of discourse and comments like these have no place on our air. Therefore, Mark will be suspended indefinitely from his role as an analyst.
Here's the clip of the offense:

Thing is, Halperin is right.
I happened to be home and caught the "news" conference. I could not believe what I was seeing. The man is absolutely clueless.
Seems all he does is blame. He blamed congress, as if he had nothing to do with out of control spending. He blamed their schedule.
Then he had this weird defense he offered: "They're in one week, they're out one week. And then they're saying, Obama has got to step in. You need to be here. I’ve been here. I’ve been doing Afghanistan and bin Laden and the Greek crisis."
Then while whining about those questioning his lack of leadership, you know, "leading from behind", he said: "And I’ve got to say, I’m very amused when I start hearing comments about, well, the President needs to show more leadership on this.....I put Vice President Biden in charge of a process.."
Still, funniest line was about him doing the Greek crisis. What's he doing, giving financial advice to them?

Is America waking up to the disaster that is Barack Hussein Obama?
It's difficult to say for sure - but my sister-in-law used to give me politically oriented (IE anti-Bush) calendars for Christmas, and it was the rare gathering that didn't have a bit of political friction. She was proud of being able to vote for Obama, and after I pointed out to her his record was laughably thin I just didn't bother arguing with her, just warned her "Be careful what you wish for - you might get it."
Hey, you gotta get along with family, right?
The first few months she was rather enthusiastic about Obama. But as time went by, she was less and less positive. Last time we got together and politics were mentioned, she almost growled at the mention of green energy plans and the possibility of another 'stimulus'.
She used to be pretty high in the accounting heirarchy in a large company - and she emphatically doesn't like what she's seeing. It worries her, a lot.
There's no friction any more. We still don't talk much about politics, but there's no prickly feeling any more at gatherings.
Haven't even gone "Told ya so..." You've got to get along with family after all... right?

Among people I know, the only ones still feverishly supporting Obama are yellow dog Democrats and those who worship hardcore leftist/statist/redistributionist/antiwar ideologies (in my circle, these are mostly over-educated college professor types).
He has been a complete disappointment to the hard left though, because he has failed to implement full scale socialism and he has failed to completely disengage and dismantle the US military. But they will strongly support his re-election, because the alternative is another greedy war mongering evil capitalist pig Republican in the White house.
I also know a few blacks who still blindly support Obama because he's a brother, but what I hear from most of the blacks I work with and their family/acquaintances is extreme disappointment, which seems to have pretty much wiped out the previous feeling of euphoria among blacks after Obama's election. Blacks seem to have been hit particularly hard by the current recession and its combination of high food and gas prices and high unemployment, where even finding part time work is next to impossible. From what I am hearing, a lot of them might just sit this election out, although the ones who do vote will probably vote for Obama again.

He's a member of the media. He's apologizing for being honest and unbiased.
It certainly is not because he used a vulgarity to describe the President. Can anyone honestly believe that he would have apologized had the President been a Republican? Would he have apologized if it were Bush? Of course not. He would tour the talk show circuit smugly recounting his insult. He would have been celebrated as a national hero on The View.

First, I didn't know Time Magazine still was in operation. Second, I had no idea Joe Scarborough still was being shown on TV somewhere.
That said, let's not confuse Time and MSNBC with the body politic.
Whereas hard core liberal political junkies such as Halperin are very angry at Obama (for not going as far to the left as they want and as they had expected), and whereas any sentient and informed adult can't wait to vote against him next year, there are millions of people out there in Zombieland with no real antipathy towards Obama nor any real sense of disapproval of his staggering ineptitude. For the simple reason there's a amazing degree of ignorance out there in Zombieland. Don't underestimate the extent to which the media and academia and identity politics have dumbed down the masses.
