Seventy years ago this day the State of Israel was born. The very next day it was attacked by a coalition of muhammedean forces from Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq. Over the next ten months the armed forces of the newly created states beat off all the mohammedean forces and secured a defensible border.
Israel has since fought three major wars and numerous more limited engagements over the course of the last seven decades to preserve their country.
It remains the only functional democratic parliamentary government in the area to this day.
Later today the United States Embassy to Israel will relocate from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
