Kerry Buddies To Visit Bush Ranch

Anyone want to bet that this WON'T be the lead story on ABC, CBS, and NBC?

Aug. 25 (Bloomberg). -- Former Democratic Senator Max Cleland plans to travel today to President George W. Bush's ranch to demand that he denounce television ads accusing Democratic challenger John Kerry of lying about his war record.

Cleland, 61, who lost both legs and his right arm during the Vietnam War, is to be accompanied on his trip to the Crawford, Texas, ranch, by former U.S. Army Green Beret Jim Rassmann, who credits Kerry with rescuing him from a river in Vietnam.

Of course the Kerry camp knows they won't get anywhere near the ranch, but they're hoping the visuals of two vets (one in a wheelchair) behind a chain link fence will distract you from the content of current SwiftVet ad, "Sellout".

Kerry is sending his best "war criminals" down to Crawford to lobby the man the Dean/Gore/Moore wing of the Democratic party likes to label "war criminal."

Update: Cleland and Rassman will try to deliver a letter protesting the Swift Boat ads to Bush at his heavily guarded ranch, Kerry aides said.

I guess that Cleland is taking a break from stumping for Kerry by harassing Bush's ranchhands.

Isn't Cleland the guy Coulter refers to with this:

"Cleland lost three limbs in an accident during a routine noncombat mission where he was about to drink beer with friends. He saw a grenade on the ground and picked it up. He could have done that at Fort Dix. In fact, Cleland could have dropped a grenade on his foot as a National Guardsman - or what Cleland sneeringly calls "weekend warriors." Luckily for Cleland's political career and current pomposity about Bush, he happened to do it while in Vietnam."

I guess any injury while wearing a uniform, whether self-inflicted or not, entitles one "hero" status in the eyes of a liberal.

Can we get some PW's out there with "Bush Lied, Tyrants Died" posters?

What's even more incredible is that Max Cleland was just loudly blasting President Bush and calling him a liar shortly before the DNC. Uh huh, and now you expect to be greeted with open arms and a sympathetic ear?
An interesting choice of "henchmen" to send out. Basically, one guaranteed to fail in his mission but create a "Bush is an even bigger meanie" type illusion.
It reminds me of the NAACP slamming Bush mercilessly, and then crying foul when Bush wouldn't give them the time of day.

Democrats are mostly against all wars and have been since the venture in Vietnam went sour (here in America, not there in Vietnam). Democrats flocked to Kerry when it seemed that his war record -- coupled with his sort-of, sometimes opposition to the war in Iraq -- would legitimate their knee-jerk antiwar stance.

When you live by a candidate's war record, you die by the candidate's war record. Kerry's candidacy is beginning to die the death of a thousand swift cuts.

Well I think that Kerry sending the gimp to take care of business was the worst move he could have made and when Clenand went there and was stopped by state police, he decided to go to the middle school where all the reporters were around and made a big stick over Bush. He has no right to go there and expect to be welcomed, making President Bush the bad guy when that is not the case. Getting involed in those 527's is illegal and the right thing was done until Cleland opened his big mouth.

Speaking of the press conference, did anyone else notice that the reporters were actually asking analytical questions? You can't go to Bush Country without facing some tough critics.
