Getting Her Cowboy Back

Tammy Bruce's comment about President Bush's very strong statement on the Democrats' sorry record on Iraq and the war on terror is my favorite. Tammy said, "Perhaps the upcoming election is drawing my Cowboy back. Let's hope so."

I couldn't agree more. He is going to catch hell for calling Democrats out, but he was catching hell when he was tiptoeing around, so it is good that just came right out and said it.

Here is an excerpt from President Bush's speech:

In his most direct attack this election season, Bush flatly charged that Democrats are incapable of effectively fighting the War on Terror.

"The stakes in this war are high and so are the stakes this November. Americans face a choice between two parties with different attitudes on this War on Terror," he told an audience in Birmingham at a Republican fundraiser for Alabama Gov. Bob Riley.

"Five years after 9/11, the worst attack on the American homeland in history, the Demohttp://tammybruce.com/mt/mt.cgi#crats offer nothing but criticism and obstruction and endless second-guessing. The party of FDR, the party of Harry Truman has become the party of cut and run," Bush said.

Tony Snow joined in as well.

I don't care what Bill Clinton did or did not do. He's history! What I do care about, is what they are doing now to get rid of this problem in the world. It's hard to immagine that people 50 years from now will still have to take their shoes off to get on an airplane. Hardest thing for a leader to do is to handle a problem with a bunch of people who can't/won't do it themselves, second guessing every decission he/she makes. The reason we elect leaders is to have someone to LEAD, not to have someone to criticize. The old exspression "Lead, Follow or Get Out of the Way" doesn't seem to apply to Democrats.

The enemy is not capitalism, profits, rich Americans or Walmart. If the Democrats can't figure that out, they have a problem. If the American voters can't figure that out, the world has a problem. Or we can all convert to Islam... but what sect?

I love politicians that talk straight. Even if you have bad news to deliver, just give it to me. Don't try to pussyfoot around it. Don't try to make me feel good about it. Just tell me. I'm a big boy. I can take it.

From the Tony Snow link : White House press secretary Tony Snow told reporters that Clinton spent his presidency "dramatically" slashing military and intelligence assets that are vital to fighting global terrorism.

This is true, and is hardly the sort of thing someone would do if they saw the possibility of a substantial future threat.

I try to keep my options open...here in Colorado there has been a dramatic shift concerning the elections..I am sure the same thing is happening where you live..Republicans will sweep in November because of our President's leadership..
Don't get me wrong..I still see the last six years as a sequence of disasters..but I live in a nation of democracy and even on the losing side..at least there are sides...
Everywhere Republicans are gaining..when they are elected (although not with my vote) we will continue to make progress both at home and abroad..it may not be in the manner I agree with..but things are getting better..

Doesn't this chap have a keeper or attendant or nurse who is supposed to be looking out for him? What, is it a federal job or something?
