Breaking: Democrats To Send Bush a No Timeline, No Excess Pork War Supplemental

I'm incredulous that this will actually get to President Bush's desk; the nutroots are surely going to lose their minds that the Democrats are conceding to Bush. From the AP:

In grudging concessions to President Bush , Democrats intend to draft an Iraq war-funding bill without a timeline for the withdrawal of U.S. troops and shorn of billions of dollars in spending on domestic programs, officials said Monday.

While details remain subject to change, the measure is designed to close the books by Friday on a bruising veto fight between Bush and the Democratic-controlled Congress over the war. It would provide funds for military operations in Iraq through Sept. 30, the end of the fiscal year.

Democratic officials stressed the legislation was subject to change. They spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they were not authorized to discuss provisions before a planned presentation to members of the party's rank and file later in the day.

Let's see if Nutroot poop hits the fan.

Schumer probably fell asleep in the Senatorial toilet room, and Harry Reid panicked, and didn't know what to do. So he let the clean bill go thru.

I think you might need to get some plastic ponchos before you head on over to Kox, DU, Oliver Willis, etc. Kim. It's going to be like the end of a "Gallagher" performance!

Hey Mitch, why don't you read the story first. It is all speculation at this point. I doubt the Dems would pass a bill without any PORK, I mean timelines.

Seriously, if this was true I would be disappointed and I would remember who voted for it. On the other hand this would give 100% of the Iraq failure to Bush and Republican hard-liners that are in office and are running for Prez.

Loss the fight but win the war (pun intended)!

My hunch is that they've done deals with each other's devils and traded amnesty for War funding.

That WOULD explain the mad rush and closed-door insults to, mostly, the American people on these immigration and amnesty issues affecting the very nature and future of our nation. The War funding isn't part of that, but the Liberals' demands to be followed are.

It would also explain McCain's and Martinez' and Bush's (among other RINOs) eagerness to intertwine with Ted Kennedy.

Yeah riiiiiiight! As if the Dems proposing, then voting for it won't be just as responsible.

Sorry to burst your bubble, you buy it you own it.

And BTW, how would that effect Rommney, among a few others, that aren't "in office" didn't craft the bill and won't vote it up or down?

I believe -S- tells the true tale. Something's afoot. Reid, Pelosi, Murtha and the rest didn't just "get religion," there's a whole bunch of vote tradin' going on.

How do you NOT endorse the change in policy and whole-heartedly confirm the General, who not only will carry out the policy, but is the prime architect behind it?

Once again the Dhimmocrats run true to form and surrender. You know, they are really getting good at this surrender business. I guess they will replace the French as the ones who carry the most white flags per capita. Sorta goes well with the bright yellow streak running up the middle of their backs - and down their pant legs.

Some might say that You gotta love those poor fools - but no, they are too stupid to love. They are the ones who call Bush stupid and yet he kicks their *ss time after time.

"How do you run on platform of complete failure?" I don't know there Barney Google, why don't you ask your Dhimmocratic buddies! Once again they are leading the pack - to the rear!

As predicted, it didn't take long for the disjointed howling to start.

So the fight is shunted off down the road a few months, to when we're supposed to be seeing that mythical September when all the Republicans decide to jump ship. On this, I'm in complete agreement with Atrios: we won't see a movement among Republicans for withdrawal, they're in it too deep. They won't back down.

So what can Congress do? Stick to the Feingold-Reid, Iraq Study Group framework. No more funding after March 31, 2008. Use the intransigence of Bush and the GOP against them. If Bush won't end this war, end it for him.

Funny he should invoke the memory of the Iraq Study Group, but I highly doubt if any of the anti-war types will recall the ISG also said a precipitous withdrawal from Iraq could be so catastrophic that it might force the U.S. military to eventually return there.

The ISG was also generally open-minded concerning a temporary, small-scale troop surge in the Baghdad area.

They won't remember that either.

Poor old Barney. This puts him the democrat crazies back is the scratch and cover mode. Reminds me of all the rants in the 90's about how much WMD Saddam had, and now they try to portray all the dhimmi's as blind, deaf, and stupid. I'll buy the last part, they are blind, deaf and stupid but they did all support the war until they didn't support the war. Even removing Saddam was a 'democrat' proposal (along with the indictment) from the 90's.
With this democrat congress in power the country is in distress so I will continue to fly my flag upside down as a signal.

Mark my words, the Dems are going to explode about the convention time next year. Shades of 1968. Nothing will have changed vis a vis Iraq by next summer. The nutroots will demand their pound of flesh, and it will be Ned Lamont-redux on a national scale for them.

I think the Dems are getting nervous that the corner is being turned in Iraq. Sadr wants to rid all Iraq of al-Qaeda, after throwing out the Americans, of course. The Badr Brigades have lined up behind Sistani, and the Sunni Arab are starting in on al-Qaeda, maybe because we protected their city mouse kin from the Shia death squads.
