Will You Answer What Congress Won't? The Top 20 Questions pt 10

Back in late 2004 and early 2005, I sent emails, faxes, and letters to every member of the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate. In it, I asked them for their answer to a set of twenty questions which the readers of Polipundit wanted asked. The text of the letter was posted here.

52 Readers in 38 states joined the effort, asking their district Representatives and Senators to answer the questions. Response from our elected Representatives and Senators was poor, predictably so. Most Congressmen and Senators simply ignored the letters, emails and faxes. In the end, only seventeen answered with any degree of substance, and not one answered more than two questions.

I was looking at the set of questions this week, and you know, they still look like good questions to me, so I am going to ask you for your opinion on them. This will take a while, since I am putting up one question for each post, but please give this your serious consideration. And folks, this is not about politics or smacking down the other side; this is an opportunity to explore the issues of substance for our country. Sad that Congress was not up to it, but maybe we can get the conversation going. Thanks in advance.

10. Given that many states give equal treatment U.S. citizens, legal aliens and illegal aliens, just what does it mean to be a U.S. citizen (besides not being hassled by Immigration?)

Being a citizen is being di... (Below threshold)

Being a citizen is being diluted by lack of effort to stem te illegal alian tide, and by laws, LAWS! that give equal treament to illegals.

Therefore, finish the wall, and deport the illegals. And stop trying to pass laws for illegals to get drivers licenses and the like.

U.S. citizenship provides a person with the luxury of apathy and ignorance (if one so chooses).

Surprisingly acceptable question considering the source. However, to avoid them answering it in a vague way, you might want to ask them to enumerate the specific benefits that only citizens are entitled to or similar.

And, some of these questions could be repurposed into questions for the YT debate.

D.J. you forgot to include the check.
The elected in both parties are in office to..ah stay in office.
How many times have we called our elected officials, spoken to staff or intern and received a non-response response?
How many time have we taken the time to compose an e-mail that reflected genuine concerns?
The response is always a canned generic insult.
It is an illusion created so we don't get too pissed off.
May I suggest you visit your local national official. Let the intern at the desk know you have specific questions. Let them know you do not plan on leaving the office until you speak in person or by phone with the official.
Force your elected official to press charges for the misdemeanor offenses that may include trespassing and/or fail to follow an order.

Then, when this person is on the campaign trail challange them on what they did.
Our officials do not respond to right or wrong..only embarrassment.

Been there, done that..made me feel better..

Good Luck

It means being subject to l... (Below threshold)

It means being subject to laws that contravene the first amendment, second amendment, fourth amendment (at least - where's my pocket constitution?), but being subject to more laws and taxation than illegals. it means being stuck in jail rather than being told to report back when your case is called.
In short, it means BOHICA, buddy.
Compare and contrast to the Roman citizen in the time of Christ.
