The Knucklehead of the Day award

Today's winner is the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. They get the award for the following-

A Tampa man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence early today, about 10 years after he killed a woman while driving drunk, according to court and jail records.

Back in 1999, a judge permanently revoked William Edward Ham's driver's license after he pleaded guilty to DUI-manslaughter. But a month after his release from prison last year, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles issued him a license, records show.

What excellent service! I wonder if he was eligible to get a safe driver classified license too. For failing to keep the citizens of Florida safe, The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is today's Knucklehead of the Day.

How much of this was incomp... (Below threshold)

How much of this was incompetence and how much was "the right to privacy" keeping the judges ruling from being enforced?

Not sure about Florida law ... (Below threshold)

Not sure about Florida law but in California, the DMV is God. They continually over-rule judge's decisions that go either way for the defendents.
