How the Democrats are Woefully Out of Touch about the Tea Parties

From Instapundit:

PATHETIC: "Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) blasted 'tea party' protests yesterday, labeling the activities 'despicable' and 'shameful.'"

Ironic: "The husband of an Illinois congresswoman pleaded guilty Wednesday to tax violations and bank fraud for writing rubber checks and failing to collect withholding tax from an employee. Robert Creamer, a political consultant married to four-term U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, could face four years in prison on the two felony counts when he is sentenced Dec. 21."

Tax hypocrisy abounds in Washington, but they're angry that people are protesting...

Surprised? You shouldn't be.

Pretzel Logic:

Ahhhh another in the long list of proud politicians from my state. All this woman ever does is raise her annoying voice about anyone on the other side of the aisle. Another glaring example of the need for term limits. The kicker: She wanted Barry's senate seat also but apparently didn't have the coin for it.

Most of the left never gets it. They are just amazed that there is an opposing viewpoint. Which explains their snooty and self rightious stance. ww

The hypocrisy aside, why are the tea parties "despicable" and "shameful" anyway? The idea of assembling and petitioning the government for redress of grievances were once thought so honorable that they got stuck into a Constitutional Amendment.
Nobody got hurt, that I've heard of, nothing important got broken--it was just a bunch of people getting together to complain about what the government is doing. This is despicable and shameful? When did that happen?

Another glorious day here in Obamastan - from jailed douche Lyin' Ryan, to our big Dick in the Senate, "Turban" Durbin; from future jailed douche Blagojawick to ol' Jug Ears himself. Now we're saddled with another shrill chimp masquerading as a politician.

Jan Schakowsky, you're a worthless puke.

It would appear the tea parties touched a nerve. An encore should prove really entertaining.

One of the more significant aspects of the tea party rallies is that a lot of people are finding out that they are not alone in their anger, most especially that they are not alone within their own comunities. This in spite of the best efforts of the 'news' media.

Her husband Robert Creamer ... (Below threshold)

Her husband Robert Creamer helped the DNC train people for the campaign in late 2007 or early 2008, after he got out of prison. Mr. Creamer headed an Illinois charity that his wife Janice sat on the board of and that paid him a 6-figure salary. Months before the race to replace 24-term congressman Sidney Yates the charity ran into some money problems and Mr. Creamer travelled to numerous neighboring states to open checking accounts and commenced a check-kiting scheme involving millions, when the balls came down the "charity" run by Creamer and his wife, the current but then future Congresswoman Schakowsky owed over $300,000. The sum was paid a few months later with new "donations", within six months Janice Shakowsky had won the Democratic primary for her congressional seat.

There was no press account of this disgraceful crime at the time and none of the nearly dozen aspirants to the seat, including the brother of Obama Campaign Finance Chair Penny Pritzker brought this crime up during the primary campaign. The strongest memory I have of that campaign was seeing Shakowsky passing out flyers at my EL stop during a raging blizzard, probably the last time she'll have to do that. Janice Shakowsky would never had been elected had the public known about the criminal enterprise her husband was running and we didn't hear about it because somebody stepped up and paid the debt. The prosecution came years later and the local coverage was sparse as the media covered for the congresswoman and her husband.

Somebody in Chicago bought and paid for Janice Shakowsky and Robert Creamer during the fall of 1997 by paying that debt, not bad, a congresswoman for a few hundred grand.
