Ted Rall, voice of reason?

Voice of reason? Of course not. He's still a blithering idiot. But now that he's blithering over Obama we can all sit back and enjoy some hot blue-on-blue action:

We expected broken promises. But the gap between the soaring expectations that accompanied Barack Obama's inauguration and his wretched performance is the broadest such chasm in recent historical memory. This guy makes Bill Clinton look like a paragon of integrity and follow-through.

From health care to torture to the economy to war, Obama has reneged on pledges real and implied. So timid and so owned is he that he trembles in fear of offending, of all things, the government of Turkey. Obama has officially reneged on his campaign promise to acknowledge the Armenian genocide. When a president doesn't have the nerve to annoy the Turks, why does he bother to show up for work in the morning?

Obama is useless. Worse than that, he's dangerous. Which is why, if he has any patriotism left after the thousands of meetings he has sat through with corporate contributors, blood-sucking lobbyists and corrupt politicians, he ought to step down now -- before he drags us further into the abyss.

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for Obama stepping down before he drags us further into the abyss. When the folks at Pravda - f'ing Pravda for God's sake - lament, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people, we all start to pine for the good old days of fiscal sanity under W. Obama's going to ruin us all and saddle our children with an 80% marginal tax rate. But that's not why half-cocked Teddy is steamed:
I refer here to Obama's plan for "preventive detentions." If a cop or other government official thinks you might want to commit a crime someday, you could be held in "prolonged detention." Reports in U.S. state-controlled media imply that Obama's shocking new policy would only apply to Islamic terrorists (or, in this case, wannabe Islamic terrorists, and also kinda-sorta-maybe-thinking-about-terrorism dudes). As if that made it OK.

In practice, Obama wants to let government goons snatch you, me and anyone else they deem annoying off the street.

Preventive detention is the classic defining characteristic of a military dictatorship. Because dictatorial regimes rely on fear rather than consensus, their priority is self-preservation rather than improving their people's lives. They worry obsessively over the one thing they can't control, what George Orwell called "thoughtcrime" -- contempt for rulers that might someday translate to direct action.

Teabaggers beware! No, of course not. He's referring to detainees rolled up in our nascent Steadfast Endeavor to Unflinchingly Minimize the Risk from Man-Made Disasters formerly known as the War on Terror. In Rall-y World, someone captured in Afghanistan or Iraq and suspected of terrorist activity deserves the same legal treatment as someone accused of a crime in the United States. The living embodiment of a 9/10 mentality and glorious reminder of just how unserious the far left is when it comes to protecting the US against future terrorist attacks man-made disasters.

Leaving aside the fact we're still light years away from liberal icon FDR's domestic internment camps and arrests of those who protested the war in Europe (Germany had nothing to do with Pearl Harbor...sound familiar?), prisoners of war have always been subjected to indefinite detainment without a trial. Then add in that these suspected terrorists architects of man-made disaster we are capturing don't even qualify for the Geneva Conventions by fighting out of uniform and indefinite detainment is too good for them. They're eligible to be hauled before a military tribunal where they're captured and summarily shot when found guilty. Instead, we detain them until we are sure they are safe to release. A pretty good bargain for the suspected jihadi if you ask me.

Obama is cute. He is charming. But there is something rotten inside him. Unlike the Republicans who backed George W. Bush, I won't follow a terrible leader just because I voted for him. Obama has revealed himself. He is a monster, and he should remove himself from power.
Monster is a strong word. I would have gone with "naive communist dunderpate". But it's nice to see that Ted Rall is an equal opportunity _ucktard.

No. Like a gaping fish.

Obama's momma was a communist. His baby-daddy was a communist. His step-baby-daddy was a communist. He was a red-diaper baby. In two volumes of "I Am Wonderful", Obama wrote of his adoration for Marxism and of searching out Marxist teachers and literature. The "church" he attended with Michelle and the children "preaches" a Marx-based dogma called "black liberation theology", more hate and Marx than love and Christ. Rall's pain of regret doesn't generate enough schadenfreude for me to be kind to those blindly enthRalled with Obama. Ignorant hope has been ill-used to change America to a more communist than a Christian nation. All the Red flag data points, Hammers & Sickles and Che Guevara posters all around, who could miss it? Except for fellow travellers, only the gullible and the weak minded. The redistribution of wealth has just begun, and taxpayers are dwindling and dodging. This rape of America is brutal and who is there to stop it? Nancy Pelosi? Harry Reid? Joe Biden? Bueller? Bueller?

Aww, this is just a pretense for Ted Rall's true motivation: he wants Joe Biden to be president!

*blink* Come to think of it, so do I. Better Joe the Incompetent than Barack the Malicious.

I would note that the only things Rall is upset about are the only things that Obama *didn't* completely screw up. Proving once again that you can be right for all the wrong reasons.

OK, let me get this straight, in back-to-back posts from Kim and Hugh we have Pravda and Ted Rall taking pot shots at Obama. Well, I guess the global warming problem is solved cause it looks like Hell is freezing over.

So, Obama's a cute, charming, fish-monster. I don't know what the big deal is. Besides, if Zbiggy hand-picked him, he can't be all bad. :P

Ted Rall's opinion equals agitated fluff.

One of the guys I work with was pretty much ecstatic that Obama won. For the first couple of months after the election, he was talking about the big changes he saw coming, and how they were going to "undo" all of the bad things the GOP did over the last few years.

Then came the inauguration.

And the actual Obama Presidency.

Now, every time I see him, this guy is just a little less happy. Recently, I saw him right after his accountant told him what he could look forward to over the next decade, and how it was going to affect his young daughter's potential college plans. Apparently, the CPA told him to start doubling or TRIPLING the not-small amount he's setting aside for her college - or start pushing her towards the "community colleges are a great place to learn" idea.

Ted Rall? Ted Rall? I'll give a crap about what he thinks when monkeys fly out of my butt. Frankly, every time I hear someone complain bitterly about what Obama's done in regard to any issue AFTER they cheered him on and then voted for him I'm inclined to tell them, "You've already been heard from - loudly and clearly."

DaveD is right. I'm sensing a pattern here.

And not to nit-pick, Baron, but:

"...the Risk from Man-Made Disasters formerly known as the War on Terror."

It's the risk from Overseas Contingency Operations formerly known as the War on Terror.

Ted Ralls mental illness will likely prevent him from realizing that this time - its his fault.

He and his ilk brought Obama to power, no evil neo-cons to blame this time around.
