First they came for my Oreos...

Awesome update to the "First They Came" about our Nanny State government from American Thinker Blog:

They first came for the light bulbs, and I didn't speak up because I'm okay with fluorescents.

Then they came for the salt, and I didn't speak up because I have high cholesterol.

Read the rest of it there.

Don't get me started. I know damned few "nature lovers" who could survive one week in the wilderness. Nature doesn't care. Nature would kill them. The 'do-gooders' wail about "agri-business", then go to the store and bitch about high prices. They complain about CO2 emissions while turning the air conditioner down. They cry about dependence on "foreign oil", but have no problem stopping drilling in their own country. They demand "green industries", evidently thinking that all the products they use daily are grown on trees and not MANUFACTURED. Then you have the Nanny's who want to dictate everything you do (or don't do). They're never satisfied. It's always for your own good, and "Oh, and one more thing......"

Upset Old Guy:

I don't know how author did it, but there is not mention in that whole piece about coming after the "evil SUVs." Don't know about the rest of you, but here in CT the MSM still writes/speaks about SUVs crashing into buildings, trees and people. Vile, evil, deadly things those SUVs (the Upset Old Gal is on her third).

First they came for my mercury batteries. So I stockpiled 3 of a particular kind so that I would have enough for 60 years for that camera. Even today, the only battery close to the old one is those Zinc-air pieces of crap, the rest don't work in that camera!

Then they came for my lightbulbs, so I stockpiled 120 of them for the one light fixture that positively will not work with CFLs. And if Mercury was so bad in batteries, then why is it allowed and PREFERED in light bulbs?????

In another year or so, I'll be 'bulb running' (Arizona to California). Seeing as our nanny state won't allow incandescent to be sold any longer.

I'd like to thank the idiots in Sacramento for giving me an opportunity to supplant my retirement income.

Now you know why healthcare is so important to them, they will use the burden on the healthcare system argument to justify taking anything they want away from you. You like to have a beer now and then too bad, several people abuse it an cause a burden on the healthcare system. You enjoy a donut once a week or so tough luck too many people eat a dozen a day and cause a burden to the healthcare system. You like cola that's a shame better get used to carrot juice, too many people drink too much and cause a burden on the healthcare system. JOB NUMBER ONE NEEDS TO BE TO KILL THE HEALTHCARE BEAST.

Drop an incandescent light bulb. Minor cleanup. Drop a CFL. If you follow the directions - it's a MAJOR HAZMAT situation.
