God rest Joshua Goldberg

Stunning news received in email this morning.  Joshua Goldberg died of injuries sustained in a fall.  He was the editor of Lucianne.com, Blogslucianneloves.com and The Connection

I knew the man not except via the numerous email exchanges we had over my posting at Blogslucianneloves.  He was alwyas kind, always helpful, always responsive.  I can't imagine the pain his family is experiencing.

His mother Lucianne Goldberg has put the following up at The Connection:

To my Dear, Loyal, Funny, Smart, Patriotic Ldotters: It is with a heavy heart and more pain that anyone should endure that we announce the death this week of our beloved Editor-in-Chief, Joshua J. Goldberg. He was my son, Jonah's brother, Chantal's husband and friend to scores of people throughout his young life.

It was a tragic fall that killed him. He suffered no pain and is in God's arms. There is a thread here to express condolences. Needless to say email to the family would overwhelm at this time.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call,
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I've found that peace at the end of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah, yes, these things too I will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My Life's been full, I savoured much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one' touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

I pray and trust that Joshua is with God and is at peace.

Thanks Kevin - and of course your action is correct, I overreacted in outrage.

Joshua was a good and gentle and gentile man, and his memory deserves that this be observed and respected.

There was a time when people on opposite sides of ideological divide could sit in a tavern and argue passionately, but civilly and with mutual respect, until the barkeep began turning the chairs on the tables. Of late it seems those days may be forever passed.

Maggie Mama:

It's a beautiful post, Rick, but there has been an error with his name. It's JONAH GOLDBERG and in addition to his work at Lucienne, he has been appearing occasionally on tv as a conservative voice.

He will be missed by many.

I was WRONG, Rick, my sincere apologies.

It was Joshua and not Jonah who passed.

Still a devastating loss to conservatives, and of course, to his family.

I saw this post yesterday, but could not think of anything worthy of posting.

I still lack the words, but must convey my condolences to the Goldbergs, the blogging woirld at large, and to people of reason.

A good man has left us, and we can but offer solace and remember the grace we have been given, that we could know the man in his time.
