Chicago Police Chief manifests serious case of Palin Derangement Syndrome

I'll simply excerpt this WLS report chock full of complete idiocy and lunacy and then end the post.  You folks can leave your reactions in the comments but I think this pretty much speaks for itself:

Speaking to parishoners at St. Sabina Church earlier this month, Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy took to the microphone after Father Michael Pfleger spoke about gun control.

McCarthy said the topic of race is a sensitive issue "because everybody's afraid of race" but that he wasn't afraid to broach to subject.

"So here's what I want to tell you. See, let's see if we can make a connection here. Slavery. Segregation. Black codes. Jim Crow. What, what did they all have in common? Anybody getting' scared? Government sponsored racism."

"Now I want you to connect one more dot on that chain of the African American history in this country, and tell me if I'm crazy. Federal gun laws that facilitate the flow of illegal firearms, into our urban centers across this country, that are killing our black and brown children," he said.

"The NRA does not like me, and I'm okay with that. We've got to get the gun debate back to center, and it's got to come with the recognition of who's paying the price for the gun manufacturers being rich and living in gated communities," McCarthy said.

McCarthy illustrated his point by recalling a crime scene investigation while he was a police official in Newark, New Jersey where five children were shot, two of whom were killed. McCarthy said when he got home, he turned on his television to unwind and find an episode of "Sarah Palin's Alaska" showing.

"She was caribou hunting and talking about the right to bear arms. Why wasn't she at the crime scene with me?"

Ok... I lied... I can't end the post... I listened to the following video and am simply appalled.  I don't know who Garry McCarthy was or is or will be but what you're about to listen to, from the inside apparently of St. Sabina Church (listed on their website as an African American Catholic Community), goes beyond ridiculous.  Was this diatribe delivered during a Mass I wonder?  Un-freakin-believable:

Seriously sick sh*t right there. Seriously demented worldview. How in hell did someone of this mindset climb to the top of Chicago's Police Department?

Garry McCarthy is an idiot. Period.

And the people in this Catholic Church who are applauding the man are bigger idiots.

God forgive me.

St Sabina is Father Pfleger's church. You'll remember him as one of Barry's spiritual advisers. He's a white Catholic priest hat is as big a race baiter as Rev Wright, Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson.

That some lefty dem would come into that church and spout off more hateful lefty speech is not surprising.

Funny how my parents just moved out of Chicago because it was just getting to unsafe for an elderly white couple to live in the Streeterville neighborhood, one of the safest neighborhoods in the city. With gangs of young males (of unidentified race if you follow the MSM) attacking people in broad daylight Chicago is positioning itself to become the country's next Detroit.

I guess the whole separation of church and state only counts when republicans mix the two.

Also here is a statistic for the police chief concerning race (that thing people are afraid to talk about). Most african american victims of crime are made victims by other african americans who are committing the crimes.

Maybe the police chief should preach about oh I dont know. Keeping families together, since statistics show that kids who grow up in homes where mother and father are both present are less likely to grow up and commit crimes.

Well, Chicago police aren't exactly known for their understanding of the Bill of Rights.

Besides, everyone knows that Palin is responsible for all the gang/drug murders in the country.

Um, yes. In the tradition of race baiting hate churches St Sabina usually has an ignorant leftist pitch to its sermons. After years of Fr pfleger's sermonizing the congregation at St Sabina is only nominally Catholic it more closely resembles Rev Wright's church than your typical Catholic church.

Chicago leads the way in strict guns laws. Oddly enough, those laws don't appear to bother the crooks and gangbangers.

Solution: More laws.

As for 'rich and living in a gated community', the Chief better watch out. Rev Wright has a million dollar pension and lives in a WHITE gated community. But that's probably 'different'.

Most of those who fill the position of Chief of Police got there because of politics, not because of good police work.

It also never fails that the leftist position is either itself racist or it is extremely damaging to the rights and welfare of minorities.

Yeah, like the Second Amendment. It's that pesky Constitution's fault. Of course it would have nothing to do with the fact that the City of Chicago has disarmed the law abiding citizenry so they are defenseless if the face of rampant crime in the city. And the Police Commissioner would never want to admit that since his government is responsible for disarming those people that the failure to adequately protect them is no one's fault but his own.

He should shut his mouth and get off his lazy ass and do his job.

And Art, since you brought up the subject, if it were up to the dems we would still have slaves in this country. They were the entire Confederate government.

I... I... I don't know quit... (Below threshold)

I... I... I don't know quite where to begin. This is offensive on several levels.

First of all, we have been told many, many times that using a church to preach politics is absolutely double-plus ungood. Yet, here we have a politician unleashing a political attack from the pulpit. Guess it's OK when the target is people that the left doesn't like.

Then, we have the idiocy of attempting to equate the RIGHT to keep and bear arms with slavery. Um... WHAT???? Arms are what keeps people from BECOMING slaves; that's why despots throughout history take good care to DISARM their prospective slave populations. My Southern ancestors were terrified of even the idea of armed black men for this reason.

Next, we've got the obligatory jab at Sarah Palin. However, it's nonsensical. Why would Sarah Palin be at a crime scene? Is she supposed to somehow feel guilty because some hoodlum she doesn't know committed a crime? Does this moron think that the sight of a corpse would suddenly make her - or any RKBA supporter - become a Bradyite? Or would Palin's attitude be more likely, "We must find the murderer who did this thing, give him a fair trial and, if we find him guilty, jail him for life or execute him? Oh, and why is is that cities and states run by democrats, like Chicago, have so much trouble with crime? Just askin'..."

O' course, no liberal diatribe would be complete without an attack on "the rich". Yep, every horror in the world stems from "rich" people making money off the suffering of others. Is this idiotic hack really trying to say that gun manufacturers deliberately encourage murder to line their own pockets???

Might we say a word or two about the murderer and the community that spawned him? "People, the murderer is one of us. He's the son of one of us. We raised him to kill. We raised him to use violence to get his own way. We accept that many of our young people are growing up as gangsters, drug dealers, thieves, and killers. And we blame other people for this. What are we doing wrong? Why do our children kill each other when children in other communities play with each other, go to school, go to work, and live peaceably with each other?"

Finally, this is a COP saying these things. Hey, stupid! WE PAY YOU TO PREVENT CRIME OR, AT LEAST, ARREST THE CRIMINAL!!! How DARE you blame your failures on other people????

This isn't a racial thing; kids of any race raised in poverty, ignorance, and lawlessness are more likely to become criminals because it's the only apparent way to survival and even wealth. Chicago is apparently hell-bent on becoming an American Mogadishu... and blaming everybody else under the sun but themselves.

BTW for the gun control nuts.

Here is a newsbusters piece QUOTING AN MSNBC ARTICLE which shows that as gun control laws eased gun violence went down.

Americans overall are far less likely to be killed with a firearm than they were when it was much more difficult to obtain a concealed-weapons permit, according to statistics collected by the federal Centers for Disease Control. But researchers have not been able to establish a cause-and-effect relationship.
In the 1980s and ’90s, as the concealed-carry movement gained steam, Americans were killed by others with guns at the rate of about 5.66 per 100,000 population. In this decade, the rate has fallen to just over 4.07 per 100,000, a 28 percent drop. The decline follows a fivefold increase in the number of “shall-issue” and unrestricted concealed-carry states from 1986 to 2006.
The highest gun homicide rate is in Washington, D.C., which has had the nation’s strictest gun-control laws for years and bans concealed carry: 20.50 deaths per 100,000 population, five times the general rate. The lowest rate, 1.12, is in Utah, which has such a liberal concealed weapons policy that most American adults can get a permit to carry a gun in Utah without even visiting the state.

The decline in gun homicides also comes as U.S. firearm sales are skyrocketing, according to federal background checks that are required for most gun sales. After holding stable at 8.5 to 9 million checks from 1999 to 2005, the FBI reported a surge to 10 million in 2006, 11 million in 2007, nearly 13 million in 2008 and more than 14 million last year, a 55 percent increase in just four years.

I too have been astonished at how few people know that the Democrats were the party of slavery, segregation, Jim Crow, KKK, lynchings, Bull Connor, firehoses, and police dogs. When told, some flatly refuse to believe it, despite it being a matter of historical fact, not opinion.

One after thought. Savor the dissembling in McCarthy's statement:

"...Federal gun laws that facilitate the flow of illegal firearms, into our urban centers across this country, that are killing our black and brown children."

Note the lack of human agency here. It's the firearms killing "our black and brown children." They're just going off by themselves. No one caused them to go off. Manufacturers need to introduce better safety locks so they don't discharge when dropped, I guess.
