This week's Weekend Caption Contest™ was another smash hit with over 130 entries. The musical themed picture brought out the songbird in many of our captioners, but that wasn't the surest path the the winners circle this week. The assignment this week was to caption the following picture:
Here are the winning entries:
1) (Pretzel_Logic) - "While my support..gently slips..."
2) (Son Of The Godfather) - "For a serious run at the office, he changed his name to 'Huckabee' after focus groups reacted negatively to a possible 'President Ywengie Malmsteen.'"
3) (jpm100) - "Hey, Mormons aren't allow to listen to music, are they? I'm just askin'."
4) (Jeff Blogworthy) - "For most candidates, "song and dance" is just a metaphor..."
5) (fustian) - "All it needs is a convicted felon from Arkansas on sax."
6) (rodney dill) - "So you want me to play at your kid's Bar Mitzvah? Next year? January 20th? I should be available...
"
The Readers Choice Award most definitely did not go to this entry:
(Baron Von Ottomatic) - "After dominating the talent competition with a blistering rendition of Dueling Banjos, Teh Fred then strode over and forcibly sodomized Huckabee. Onlookers swear they heard Huckabee whisper 'Thank You.'"
That entry received more negative votes that just about any entry ever submitted, save for the random troll remark. As such it earns the Dubious Distinction Award.
That's all for this weekend. A new edition of the Wizbang Weekend Caption Contest™ will debut Friday morning.

Kevin,
So, negative votes count for an award just like positive votes do. Is there no means for readers to black ball truly perverted captions such as that of Baron Von Ottomatic? With creation of the Dubious Distinction Award you have now created a competition to see just how debased captions can get. Something to think about when you select photos for the Caption Contest.

Thanks Kevin.
I also thought the 'Guitar Zero' and 'All your Conservative Bass are belong to me' captions were pretty good, but that's just me.
I think the negative votes for the Baron's caption were due to it being directed toward's conservatives, otherwise there have been no shortage of debasing comments winning or placing in the past. That's not intended as a criticism of the contest, just a statement as to its nature.

Okay, now remember this when you're holding your nose and voting for whomever is calling themself a Republican against the Democratic presidential candidate in November.
My caption alluded to the only reliably (mainstream, we'll leave Ron Paul out of the discussion) conservative candidate imposing his will on one of the big government, nanny state Republican candidates. Huckabee is not a conservative. McCain is not a conservative. Romney is not a conservative. They'll say what they think you want to hear to get elected, but leopards don't change their spots.
Personally, I'd rather have a social liberal committed to small government than a smiling, rigidly social conservative theocrat imposing national smoking bans, governemnt imposed weight loss programs, and higher taxes. Fortunately Huckabee's star is fading, but apparently the era of small government Republicans is dead. So I guess as we creep toward socialism we'll all be forcibly sodomized and expected to enjoy it...
Cheers,
BVO
