Mark McKinnon Keeps Promise To Leave McCain Campaign

John McCain’s top lead media consultant, Mark McKinnon, is leaving the McCain campaign team, keeping to a vow he made last year not to work against Barack Obama.

In February he told NPR, “I would simply be uncomfortable being in a campaign that would be inevitably attacking Barack Obama. I think it would be uncomfortable for me, and I think it would be bad for the McCain campaign.”

This evening CNN and The Washington Post are reporting that he has stepped down.

The comments to the CNN and WaPo posts are filled with uninformed (and unintentional) hilarity; perhaps that’s what you get with an Obama candidacy and all its new supporters. My favorite is this comment which looks like it came from the depths of DU:

“McKinnnon is a double agent, and wants the Dems to nominate Obama so McCain can win.”

The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy is far more widespread & clever than we give them credit for. If they’ve got McKinnon – we can trust nobody.

NOBODY IS ABOVE SUSPICION!

Sure, keep believing that…
