Again, this is a triple-elimination tournament with pairings set up by initial random draws. This is not to be taken seriously, but to exercise perspectives of how different Presidents faced their duties, crises, and opportunities.

As before, no actual politicians were harmed in the creation of this post. I may admit to taunting a few, though.

ADDENDUM: Ike and Spike Play Catch Up

As Mr. Right observed, after the First Round, in which Eisenhower thumped Hoover 16-1, both Presidents took off to watch the Super Bowl and Miami and got, hmm, “distracted” in Miami and lost most of the week. If the real men were actually participating or this were something to take more seriously than an Obama campaign promise, this could be a big problem, but since this is entertainment with a bit of value in comparing situations and hypothetical comparisons, Ike and Spike (as I call them) get to play catch-up. Here are their Round Two, Three, Four and Five match-ups – the results here will only count with respect to Eisenhower (1-0) and Hoover (0-1):

D Eisenhower vs R Nixon
D Eisenhower vs A Jackson
D Eisenhower vs A Johnson
D Eisenhower vs J Polk

H Hoover vs C Arthur
H Hoover vs U Grant
H Hoover vs W Harding
H Hoover vs M Van Buren
