Wanted: A Blogger Who Is Always Right

Wanted - Perfect Blogger
Wizbang is currently without a blogger who is always right. So, how should bloggers here deal with errors? By admission, by denial or by attacking those who criticize? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Recently, I published a blog post about the exportation of crude oil produced in the USA. In doing so, I took a stab at a topic that is not within my area of expertise. I risked being wrong, and plenty of readers told me that I was wrong. That’s OK with me, because I knew that I could be wrong.

Yes, Folks, I am a fallible pundit. Indeed, everyone who writes for Wizbang is fallible. Show me a pundit who says that he is always right, and I will show you a pundit who is deluded. If Wizbang has a pundit like that, then the person certainly isn’t me.

Anyway, I am thinking over my previous thoughts about crude oil. I might stick with what I said, or I might change my mind. Believe it or not, I have been known to change my mind about something after receiving information from another party. I won’t necessarily stick to an opinion after others have pointed out mistakes in that opinion.

As I see it, if one is going to be a blogger, then one needs to have thick skin and a humble spirit. The world already has too many pundits with swelled egos that don’t permit them to admit to being in error.

As I say at the beginning of this post, Wizbang is currently without a blogger who is always right. Then again, there is no such person as a blogger who is always right, just as there is no such person as a professional pundit who is always right. That is why I appreciate criticism when it is given in way that is courteous, because there is always the possibility that there is something that I overlooked or did not know.

So, if you have been courteous while expressing a disagreement with my opinions or conclusions, then thank you for being courteous. This blog benefits when people express disagreements without resorting to personal attacks.
