Let freedom rock

Every year in Boston, the highlight of the 4th of July celebration is the free Boston Pops Concert. It is THE event, culminating in the playing of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, complete with the Massachusetts National Guard providing the appropriate percussion with real howitzers.

This year, it’s gonna be a little different.

The Pops has often had special guests accompany them, but this year they outdid themselves. According to a promo playing on this radio station, this year’s guests will be Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith. Aerosmith is known as a Boston band, and Tyler is a fellow New Hampshirite of mine, who grew up as Steven Talarico. WBZ is also planning on airing the concert live, and they offer free streaming over the internet.

Personally, I can’t wait to hear a full orchestral version of “Dude Looks Like A Lady…”
