Lousy Leftists Criticizing Confederate Flag (Grumble!)

Controversy
A bunch of leftists are criticizing the Confederate flag! Rant! Rant! Rant! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

In a commentary for the Daily Beast, liberal Democrat Ron Christie writes the following.

GOP leaders from the Palmetto State and across America need to lead the charge in removing the Confederate flag from the grounds of Columbia’s Capitol immediately. Now. Full stop.

I’m not suggesting that this domestic terrorist was inspired by the display of this specific flag over South Carolina’s statehouse. What I am asserting, however, is that President Obama was correct in his comments the other day when he stated that this flag best belongs in a museum.

Christie goes on to say, “And I say all this from the perspective of someone who was privileged to serve the American people in the White House, working for President Bush and Vice President Cheney.”

Oops! My bad. Ron Christie is a conservative Republican.

Anyway, liberal journalist Philip Klein wants people to hate the Confederate flag and says so in a …

…err…

Silly me. Philip Klein is the managing editor of The Washington Examiner, which is a conservative sibling of The Weekly Standard.

Well, Democrat politicians Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush have expressed disdain for the Confederate flag in posts on social … Oh, wait. Romney and Bush are Republicans. How could I have forgotten?

In other news, CBS News is reporting that a Democrat member of the South Carolina legislature “intends to introduce a bill in December to move the Confederate flag and its pole into the state’s Confederate Relic Room and Military museum.”

CBS News states, “Rep. Doug Brannon, who has served in the state House for five years, has said he has always thought that the symbol should be taken off Statehouse grounds, according to the Associated Press. December is the first chance to introduce a bill for the legislative session that starts in January.”

I’m sorry. I read that CBS report wrong. Rep. Doug Brannon is a Republican.

Gee, with conservatives and Republicans rising up against the Confederate flag, one might think that there is nothing conservative or Republican about defending the Confederate flag.

End Sarcasm
